Nasarawa LGs shares N1.2bn for March salary

Nasarawa State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Haruna Osegba, has said that the 13 local government areas (LGA) in the state shared N1.2billion from Federation Account as salaries for the month of March.

He disclosed this yesterday immediately after the state’s LGAs Joint Account committee meeting in Lafia.

Osegba said that there was a shortfall of N89 million in March allocations, explaining that every staff would receive 65 to 85 per cent of March salary, but depending on the staff strength of each LGA.

He also noted that after the statutory dedications, which include salaries of traditional rulers, only N1.2 billion would be left to be shared to LGAs.

He, therefore, assured all workers that the state government would block leakages and boost sources of internally generated revenue in order to augment the allocation.

The JAAC meeting had also approved the payment of N4, 6million to the state ministry of justice for the 2017 legal services to the 13 LGAs.
