Nasarawa PDP ward congress: Panel recommends caretaker c’ttee

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) appeal panel on the ward congresses for Nasarawa state has recommended for the immediate set up of caretaker committee to take charge of the state affairs pending the congress.

The appeal panel made the recommendations in a letter dated 16th March, 2020,  jointly signed by its chairman and secretary, Dr. Umar Garba and Mrs Oyetola Stella, respectively and one other member, Mr. Daniel Ayinso, and made available to Blueprint Thursday in Lafia.

“In view of the over-bearing negative influence of both the state chairman and secretary, it is recommended further that a caretaker committee be constituted immediately to take charge of the state and ensure the conduct of the congresses in accordance with the guidelines,” the letter said.

The letter also recommended the outright cancellation of the result of the ward executives and ad-hoc delegates’ election, said to have been voted for at the ward congress of the 7th March 2020, as no such congress took place in Nasarawa state.

It said a rescheduled congress should be fixed for the state to be conducted by an electoral panel different from the first panel sent on the 7th of March 2020.

The panel revealed that it discovered that no congress was held on the 7th of March 2020, in any of the wards in the local governments complained of in the state as both INEC and the security agencies could not have witnessed any congress.
