Nasarawa state Commandant of the Nigerian Peace Corps (NPC), Mr. Bala Joshua, has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to sign into law the bill seeking to establish the organisation in order to promote peaceful co-existence in the country.
He made the appeal yesterday while addressing newsmen in Lafia, saying that the bill, if finally assented into law by President Buhari, would not only fight the high rate of unemployment in the country, but would also help the Corps to synergise with other security agencies in the area of conflict resolution strategy.

“It is in view of this, I want to appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari who, we believe so much in him as a father that understand the plight of Nigeria youths, to assent the Nigerian Peace Corps Bill into law, considering its enormous benefit to the country,” he said.
He also appreciated members of the National Assembly for passing into law the bill establishing the Nigerian Peace Corps.
He charged men of the Command to maintain standard and to adhere strictly to its professional ethics in the interest of peace and national development.
The state commandant called on Nigerians to be law abiding, respect constituted authorities and to live in peace irrespective of their affiliation, adding that no meaningful development could be achieved in any society without peace.
