Nasarawa pharmacists offer police free medical services

The Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN) Nasarawa state chapter, has offered free medical services to the state Police Command in continuation of their 2018 medical outreach.

The gesture took place at the Nasarawa state Police command headquarters yesterday in Lafia.

Chairman of ACPN in the state, Pharm Ikechukwu Okafor, said the effort was aimed at giving back to the society, explaining that the police were chosen because of the critical role they play in maintaining law and order.

“What we are doing today is trying to give back to the society and we have chosen the police because these are people who work from morning till night and hardly have time to go for check-ups,” he said.

He explained that ACPN officials in the state were particular about deworming because of the negative health impact it has on humans, especially adults who according to him often ignore it hence the reason to counsel the officers and men of the command to deworm themselves every three months.

Okafor revealed that the medical outreach, the first for the association, will be concluded in Karu local government area and be repeated each year to offer free medical services to other persons and groups in the society.

Nasarawa state Commissioner of Police, CP Yahaya Bello, expressed gratitude for the gesture which to him will help offer officers and men of the command better understanding of their health conditions.

Blueprint reports that ACPN, the technical arm of Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), offered free services to about 200 officers and men of the command on a batch by batch basis.
