Nasarawa: PHCDA assures of quality service delivery


The Nasarawa state Primary Health Care Development Agency (PHCDA), Thursday assured the people of the state of the sustainable and quality health care service delivery.


Executive chairman of the agency Dr, Mohammed Usman Adis, gave the assurance at a press briefing in Lafia.


He explained that 3,595 children had so far been enrolled in the  Community based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) programme and 2,636 were cured while others are currently undergoing treatment.


“CMAM was rolled out in three local government areas of the state Akwanga,Keffiand Lafia as Out-patient Therapeutic Programme (OTP) sites.”

The chairman however, clarified on reports that 20 children were killed as a result of non- availability and administration of expired of drug known as RF100, dispelled that non of such happened in the state.


He said that the supplements supplied by UNICEF were F75 and F100 not RF100 and no death was recorded in any of the general hospitals in the state as claimed in the report.


“CMAM consists of four main components which include community outreach, out- patient care from the management of severe acute malnutrition (SAM) with medical complication and the management of moderate acute malnutrition which is in line with CMAM goal of bringing treatment to the grassroots level at the barest cost.”


He however, solicited the cooperation of the media and enjoyed them to be objective in their reportage.
