Nasarawa: Sule swears in new acting Chief Judge


Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state, Thursday, sworn in the new acting chief judge of the state, Justice Aisha Bashir Aliyu.
This marked the exit of Hon. Justice Suleiman Umaru Dikko as the chief Judge of the state whose appointment ends on  December 31, 2020, following his meritorious service in the Nasarawa state judiciary. 

At the occasion, Lafia, governor Abdullahi Sule charged her to bring her wealth of experience to bear in the discharge of her duty and be fair to all.
“In fulfilment of the constitutional obligation and based on the recommendation of the Nasarawa state Judicial Service Commission in compliance with the provision of section 271 (1), I approved the appointment of Justice Aisha Bashir Aliyu as the acting chief judge of Nasarawa state”.

“You must always remember that as head of the Judicial arm of government, you are the symbol of fairness, equity, justice and objectivity which is the hallmark that civilised society yearns for at all times,”he said.
Sule said judiciary is the repository of the tenets of democracy and the rule of law as well as is critical in the development process as it provides the alloy that strengthens the relationships among the organs of government.
“It is for this reason that this administration has continued to accord priority attention to this important integument to enable it meet its objectives and expectations of the citizenry,” Sule said.


On her part, the acting chief judge Justice Aisha thanked the Nasarawa state judicial service commission, and appreciated the governor for finding her worthy of the appointment.
She pledged that the judiciary would continue to support the state government where legally possible to move the state forward.


She therefore appealed to the state government to look into the welfare of judicial workers in the state.
