Nasarawa varsity don bags diplomacy fellowship

Nasarawa State University Keffi (NSUK) lecturer, and Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Abdullahi Liman, has been bestowed with award of excellence and induction as Fellow of Chartered Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management (CIPDM) during the 2018 training and induction lecture at the university.
Delivering his induction lecture on the topic: “Diplomacy and Effective Leadership in Academic Institutions in Nigeria”, he pledged to enforce leadership excellence in his duty.
The president of the CIPDM, Professor Mike Ikupolati, stressed that the landscape of higher education was characterised with international collaboration research.
He said that positioning higher education as an instrument of cultural and public diplomacy was very important.
Ikupolati further explained that every unit of academic institution was endowed with different potential and maintained that effective use of diplomacy by institutions would promote peaceful co-existence for deep academic researches, sustainability of institutional development, inter faculty partnership for academic excellence, peace among academics and non-academics through dialogue.
He raised the alarm over how multi-academic institutions in the country have created more heterogeneous environments, and disclosed that about 158 universities in Nigeria, 113 polytechnics, as well as 85 colleges of education, among other institutions at federal, state and privately-owned were characterised with what he described as “cultural diversity among staff and students”, leading to the diversity of behaviour.
Ikupolati viewed that dialogue of conflict in academic is from the brain but not by blood, and every leader’s motive should be to serve the people but not to be served.
The CIPDM 2018 training and induction lecture theme was, “Adopting Diplomacy As a Guide to Leadership, Management and Governance” In his goodwill message, the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Professor Abdullahi Nuhu Liman, expressed gratitude for the induction as a fellow of the institution.
The professor of Political Science and International Relations maintained that leaders and followers should collaborate and synergize to move the country forward.
In the same vein, a Senior Lecturer at the department of Mass Communication, Dr. Anthony Igyuve, who is also an inductee, disclosed that every lecturer is a leader.
