‘Nasarawa’s 2.2-km Loko-Oweto Bridge ready by November’

 

Federal Ministry of Works, Power and Housing has assured that the 2.2 kilometre Oweto Bridge linking Nasarawa state to Benue state would be completed by November, 2018.
Federal Controller of Works, Federal Ministry of Works, Power and Housing, Nasarawa state office, Engr. Wasiu Adetayo, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Lafia yesterday.
Blueprint reports that officials of the Federal Ministry of Works on the instruction of the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, had embarked on a media tour of ongoing projects in Nasarawa state on Wednesday.
He said the completion of the bridge over River Benue “will pave a new shortcut for travellers from Abuja to the South-east by reducing their travelling hours by three hours,” and gave the assurance that the federal government “is fully committed to completing the project at the set date.”
Adetayo also said the 82-kilometre Nasarawa-Loko road that “links the bridge to both states would be completed by September 2018, so as to facilitate movement because without good motorable road, the essence of the bridge will be meaningless.”
The federal controller also commended the contractor handling the job, explaining that the contract for the construction of the 2.2-kilometre bridge was awarded at an initial sum of N36 billion with a revised sum of N51 billion.
