Nasarwa PDP ward congress, a charade – Aspirant

A stalwart aspiring to lead the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa state,

Jibrin Sabo Keana, Monday said there was no ward congress in any of the 147 electoral wards in the state.

He stated this in an interview with Blueprint in Lafia following the Saturday ward congress.

Sabo alleged that the whole process was hijacked by the state exco, insisting that PDP must conduct free, fair and transparent ward congress in the state to allow democracy to take its course.

“When the process is transparent whoever wins or loses will accept the result, but any result purported to be a product of ward congresses in the state would not be accepted. He said.

He said people should be allowed to decide their leaders not by imposing any one on them. What brings problems is when officials attempt to manipulate the process or attempt to influence the outcome of the process, and then there will always be issues.

The aspirant warned that anything short of transparent, free fair congress would destabilise the party in 2023 general elections. He said he had petitioned the appeal committee on the matter.

‘‘I want you to get me right here that the efforts we are making and putting in place is for the benefit of the National Working Committee so we are not interested in discussing people or the state exco.”

He, therefore, urged for the unity and progress of the party, saying PDP brought democracy to Nigerians and it is duty bound that the PDP most nurture and secure democracy for the good of all.

All efforts to speak with the state party chairman, Mr. Francis Orogu proved abortive.
