NASFAT secures release of 3 inmates from Keffi correctional centre

An Islamic organization, Nasrul-lahi-li Fathi Society of Nigeria (NASFAT), northern zone, Friday, secured the release of three inmates at the Keffi correctional centre in Nasarawa state, after paying their various fines.

Two of the inmates, Yaro Mohammed and Suleiman Mohammed, were immediately set free while the third inmate whose name was not yet released by the authority of the centre will be released on Monday.

The Chairman of northern states’ welfare forum of NAFSAT, Alhaji Abdulhakeem Adetunji Mosebolatan, who led the delegation to the centre, said the gesture was part of the activities lined up for the 3rd NASFAT northern states’ conference scheduled to hold in Abuja on Saturday.

Addressing the inmates, Mosebolatan urged them not to lose hope, but use their predicament to seek for forgiveness, guidance and mercy from God.

He urged inmates of the centre to continue to be good ambassadors of Islam, and pledged that the organisation would be visiting them regularly with a view to bringing succour for them.

Also speaking, the Chairman, local organizing committee for the conference, Alhaji Suleiman Abdulfatai, urged the inmates to be positive minded, saying that they should have the hope that they can still be good citizens of the country.

An inmate, Abubakar Mohamamed Issa, who spoke on behalf of other inmates, thanked NASFAT for the release of three inmates of the centre, and pleaded for the supply of disinfectants to make their cells hygienic.

Other members of the delegation were the zonal welfare secretary, NAFSAT, Engr. Akande Abiodun Tiamiyu, Alhaja Bola Abdulkareem, and NASFAT members from Keffi branch.
