NASFAT to visit Keffi correctional centre, holds northern congress, Saturday

An Islamic organisation, Nasrul-lahi-li Fathi Society of Nigeria (NASFAT) northern zone, said it has concluded plans to secure release of some of the inmates at the Keffi correctional centre in Keffi local government area of Nasarawa state.

The targeted inmates, according to the organisation, are those who had been discharged and acquitted but who could not pay the prescribed fines.

The chairman, local organising committee, 3rd NASFAT northern states’ conference, Alhaji Suleiman Abdulfatai, said the gesture was part of the activities lined up for the congress, scheduled to hold in Abuja on Saturday.

Abdulfatai, who spoke with journalists in Abuja on Thursday, said the conference, which is expected to have NASFAT members across the 19 northern states in attendance, has the theme: Globalisation and civilisation; the cause of the present insecurity, welfarism to the rescue.

He said the national chief missioner, Ansaru-Deen Society worldwide, Sheikh Abdurahman Ahmad, is the guest lecturer, adding that the conference will hold at the NASFAT Islamic centre, Abuja branch, Utako.

Also speaking, the vice chairman local organising committee for the conference, Engr. Abdulwahab Adebayo, said the chairman NASFAT board of trustees, Alhaji Abdul-Lateef Olasupo, and NASFAT’s Chief Missioner worldwide, Alhaji Imam Onike Morufu Abdulazeez are among the dignitaries expected at the conference.
