Naspoly rector: ‘We don’t support ASUP petition against Al-Makura’

Concerned members of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP), Nasarawa state Polytechnic branch have distanced themselves from athreat issued Governor Umaru Al-Makura by ASUP chairman, demanding the appointment of Rector from within the polytechnic system.
This was contained in a statement jointly signed by its chairman and secretary, Yahaya Muhammad and Gimba Felix, respectively, saying they were ready to work and support whoever that is appointed by the governor as their new rector so long as the person is an academic staff.
The group also advised the Joint Union of State Tertiary Institutions ( JUNSTI ) to sheath their sword on the plan to embark on strike, to enable government ample time to study the report of the fact-finding committee where all issues affecting welfare of staff have been captured.
According to the statement,” the ASUP chairman, Mr Paul Useini in association with some unpatriotic members of the polytechnic have found pleasure in causing industrial disharmony by writing petitions and letters of threats, including the recent one he vowed to shutdown the polytechnic if a new Rector is not appointed from the polytechnic system.”
It could be recalled that the ASUP chairman, Mr. Paul Useini, had written series of letters threatening to shut down the polytechnic activities if a new Rector was not appointed from the polytechnic system.
