NASS: PDP NEC committee meets lawmakers

The committee set up by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to investigate why lawmakers elected on the party platform failed to vote as directed by PDP in the election of the 9th Assembly leadership.

The PDP during the NASS leadership  election directed lawmakers elected on its platform to vote Senator Ali Ndume and Honourable Umar Bago for the Offices of Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives respectively; but they obviously opted for Senator Ahmed Lawanda and Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila.

The committee met with National Assembly caucus in Abuja, Tuesday at the party’s headquarter.

Chairman of the committee and former Senate President, Senator Adolphus Wabara explained that the meeting was  to enable members deliberate with National Assembly caucus of the party on how to solve the problem.

Adolphus said “The implicit confidence Nigerians have in PDP should not be allowed to wane. We must collectively steer the ship of the party on the path of responsible politics,  responsible governance and responsible leadership.”

The lawmakers who attended from both chambers include Senate Minority Leader,  Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Senator Chuka Utazi, Uche Ekwunife and a host of others.

Others included Senators Adolphus Wabara, Ibrahim Mantu, Stella Omu amongst others.
