National agenda on children’s better life underway – LIWOM

The Country Lead, Living Word Mission (LIWOM), Mr Marcus Williams, has hinted that a national policy agenda on children’s better life in Nigeria is underway.

Williams, who dropped this hint on Monday while speaking at the LIWOM 2020 end of the year party held at its headquarters in Ososami area of Ibadan, emphasised that there was the need for children across Nigeria to have the much needed rights to best and better life, for them to have a real sense of belonging in the society.

He then charged parents in Oyo and Nigeria to protect their children against any form of sexual abuse and gender-based violence, adding that the time has come for parents to keep their children within the family community for better development and care.

Williams stressed that the parent’s protection of their children against any form of sexual abused, gender-based violence became necessary in view of the fact that some children with such treatments in the past had been assisted in the home to get justice and counselling as well as necessary support to be better persons in future.

He disclosed that LIWOM had provided shelter for over 350 males and females since its inception over 24 years ago and that the best place to train and protect children is within the family set up, saying, the 24 years’ existence of the orphanage home has recorded tremendous success for all the children that passed through the house and who have become very successful in their various endeavours.

He then commended the Oyo state Ministry of Health for the financial, material and necessary support towards the children, training and retraining for the caregivers, all in a bid to give the children the best.

Oyo state Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Mrs. Faosat Sanni, in her remarks, stated that her ministry “is saddled with the responsibility of solving problems involving and affecting women and children which has been taken care of from time to time.
