National Bioeconomy Strategic Framework, pillar for Medium-Term Nat. Devt. Plan-Agba

Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Ikanade Agba, has stated that the National Bioeconomy Strategic Framework for Nigeria is expected to serve as a key pillar of the forthcoming Medium-Term National Development Plan.

Speaking at the opening of a two-day National Bioeconomy Strategy workshop in Abuja on Thursday, Prince Agba explained that this was in line with current administration’s policy thrust for economic diversification and growth.

According to the minister, “the bioeconomy strategy plays a dual role of promoting the growth and diversification of an economy and supporting the country in meeting its commitments in the Paris Agreement.

He pointed out that “Indeed, a well-crafted bioeconomy strategy will invariably address about a half of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”

Prince Agba said that Nigeria, as a tropical developing country, had huge potential in bioresources, especially biomass, which could be harnessed to create wealth, jobs, and enhance the growth and development of the country.

The minister further emphasized that “the focus of the present administration still remains the tripod of fighting corruption, security and strengthening the economy.”
