National Convention: APC Young stakeholders reject micro zoning of offices

A forum of young stakeholders in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected the plan by the party to micro-zone positions ahead of the forthcoming national convention.
The young politicians also accused the Abubakar Baraje-led New People Democratic Party (nPDP) in APC of plot to distabilased the ruling party.
Addressing a press conference Wednesday in Abuja, National Field Director of the forum, Alwa Hassan, also rejected the plan by some party leaders and governors to hand pick individuals who will occupy the various offices zoned to each geo-political zone.
According to him, APC as a progressive party which represents the collective will of all her members must not only conduct her affairs differently, it must be seen as doing so.
While insisting that delegates to the coming National Convention must be allowed to freely elect aspirants of their choice, the young stakeholders said: “Every members of the party irrespective of their state of origin or residence must be allowed to contest for any position of their choice provided that such position is one of those allocated to his or her zone.”
While reacting to ultimatum given by the members of nPDP, the young politicians said: “The action of the Kawu Baraje led group which issued a seven day ultimatum to the party in a letter alleging marginalisation, maltreated and witch-hunt is not only embarrassing, but a deliberate ploy to destabilise our great party.
“Is either You are a member of the APC or You are not. From the day of the merger all bodies ceases to exists.
“Suffice to say that the claim of marginalisation by the nPDP cannot be true when their members occupy various positions in the States as governor, at National Assembly senate president and speaker of the House of Representatives, Cabinet Members and Board members of parastatal  constituted by the President.”
They, however, called on the nPDP to channel their grievances appropriately and join hands with other stakeholders to move the party forward.
