National Lottery Fund throw weight behind PCC on anti-corruption marathon race

The National Lottery Trust Fund  has assured  the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) and other stakeholders not to lose their sleep over organization of  the 4th edition of the National Anti-Corruption Marathon race and the Youth and Student Summit slated for  Abuja on October 1st as part of the country’s independence anniversary.

The Executive Secretary, Alhaji Bello Maigari  made this pledge on behalf of the Lottery Trust Fund on Wednesday when the Honourable Chief Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission, Hon. Abimbola Ayo-Yusuf paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Abuja.

Alhaji Maigari stressed that the Lottery Fund has been promoting sports to a greater extent in the country. “We supported one of our female athlete that went to Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and she won gold. We have expended quite a chunk of resources in several schools across the country to support sports”

“We will support the marathon. It’s part of the mandate given to us. I can also assured you that we will fully participate in the marathon because it’s for the good of the nation. We will not shy away from any good cause that will benefit the nation. Your request is in tandem with our objectives” he said

Speaking earlier, Hon. Abimbola Ayo-Yusuf said  the purpose of his visit was to seek  the support and partnership of the Lottery Fund towards the organization of the 2022 Anti-Corruption Marathon and 4th Edition of the National Youths and Students’ Summit in Abuja.

The Chief Commissioner emphasized that sports is a unifying factor which is  capable of bringing together youths irrespective of their ages, religions, gender or ethnic groups.

He solicited the support of the Lottery Fund towards making this year’s  Edition of the event a success and assured that it would be made a veritable platform for wider advocacy for unity and the fight against corruption among the youths.
