Navy parades 42 suspected cultists, CR declares 35 wanted

The Nigerian Navy has paraded and handed over 42 suspected cultists to Cross River state government few hours after the state government declared 35 persons wanted in relation to their roles in recent cult killings in Calabar that claimed many lives.

Recall that the permanent secretary, special services,  Governor’s office, Mr. Alfred Mboto had  Monday evening, reeled out 35 names of persons he said were culpable in recent cult killings, and noted that , “the spate of killings and violence taking place in the Calabar metropolis over supremacies of various fraternities is alarming and unacceptable by government and people of Cross River state.”

Speaking while handing over the suspects for further investigations and prosecution, the Commander of the Nigerian Navy Victory Ship (NNVS), Rear Admiral Vincent Okeke, said they were arrested on Sunday through a tip off by concerned individuals.

Represented by Capt. Ibrahim Gwaska, the Navy boss said the standby team was informed that the suspects were gathered in Akpabuyo local government area of the state for initiation and other activities, and that intelligence gathering revealed that it was evidently clear that there was going to be a clash between the Klans and Black Axe confraternities.
