Navy receives 86 seized drones from Customs

The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) on Tuesday handed over 86 pieces of seized Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) to the Nigerian.
Presenting the drones on behalf of the Comtroller General of Customs, Comtroller FCT Command Suleiman Jaji Bomoi, said they were intercepted from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport because the importers didn’t have End Users Certificates.
According to him, the Nigerian Customs Service got a forfeiture order from a High Court before seizing the drones.
“Drones are not prohibited and you know the uses of drones, but before you import drones you must have End Users Certificate so that we will know who is using the drones.
“The End Users Certificate is issued by the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA). If you don’t have the certificate and you import drones we will seize it,” he said.

Receiving the drones on behalf of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Chief of Training and Operations, Rear Admiral Solomon Agada, assured that the drones would be used to serve Nigerians.
He said, ” I want to assure you that the drones will be used appropriately in the service to the Nigerian Navy and the Nigerian people.
“We thank you for the kind gesture. On behalf of the Chief of the Naval Staff, I want to extend the appreciation of the Nigerian Navy to the Nigerian Customs Service. This is done as part of the collaboration among various security agencies in the country. We shall continue to work together to ensure security of lives and property in the country.”
