NAWIS to FG: Intervene, pay Super Falcons outstanding monies

As controversy rages over ‘non-payment’ protest by Nigeria’s Super Falcons, the Association of Nigerian Women in Sports (NAWIS) has beckoned on the federal government to wade in and made available all outstanding monies to the country’s senior national team.

Super Falcons had after exiting the ongoing FIFA Women World Cup reportedly refused to leave their hotel in France in protest of their outstanding payments.

President of the association, Professor Florence Adeyanju who spoke to Blueprint, while reacting to the latest development said, “NAWIS is pleading with the Federal Government to intervene in the situation of the unpaid allowance of the Super Falcons.

“The issue of unpaid always comes up always whenever the girls are  playing for Nigeria. It should stop. The girls deserve better treatment. Therefore, NFF and whoever is given the responsibility to pay the Falcons their dues should do so without further delay.

Professor Adeyanju was among highly placed and informed Nigerian men and women who sensitised Super Falcons players on various issues of importance earlier this year before they departed Abuja for the mundial.
