NCC installs emergency centres in Kaduna Anambra, Niger

The Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) said it has established emergency communication device code in Anambra, Niger and Kaduna states with a view to facilitating accessing network during emergencies.
This was disclosed by the Deputy Director, Consumer Affairs and head of communications department, Alhaji Ismail Adedigba while responding to questions from newsmen in Kazaure shortly after completion of the commissioners’ 52nd edition of consumer town hall meeting at the Jigawa Institute of Information Technology at the weekend.
He said telephone consumers should only dial 122 code to access service during emergency situations as part of NCC’s efforts to ensure effective, efficient and uninterrupted network coverage across the country.
According to him, the commission has established another device called local and international routine network, saying under this innovation, “if a consumer is at one area where there is MTN network, he can switch off to Globacom or Airtel to get service.” Adedigba, added that if one travels to the United States of United Kingdom of somewhere in Africa, through international routine system, it can change his line to local routine of such countries so that he or can communicate can effectively with any part of the world.
The forum with the theme, Using Information and Education as Tool for Consumer Empowerment and Protecting , Adedigba stated that it seeks to educate telecom consumers and other stakeholders holders on contemporary issues generating interest in the industry and also serve as a feedback mechanism for commission in making regulatory interventions for the benefit of the consumers as well as service providers and the industry as a whole.
Ismail therefore warns the service providers to ensure that they provide corporate social Responsibility by executing projects in areas of health , education , water supply among others to communities they serve , saying that there was no way to shy away from CSR
