NCPC boss Pam flags off intending pilgrims’ screening in Jos

The executive secretary, Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev. Yakubu Pam, has flagged off the screening exercise for intending pilgrims to Jordan and Israel in Jos, the Plateau state capital.

This was contained in a press statement issued by the Commission’s media and public relations unit Wednesday.

According to the statement, Rev. Pam described the intending pilgrims as the “most privileged” and so should represent the country well in addition to not thinking of absconding during pilgrimage.

He said there was need for every pilgrim who scaled through the screening exercise to avail himself or herself the opportunity to attend the Commission’s mandatory orientation programme before departure to the Holy Land.

The NCPC boss advised them to have a clear purpose and motive of going on Holy Pilgrimage and shun any act that might affect the image of their state and Nigeria, adding that the Commission would flag off the 2021 pilgrimage exercise to Jordan on May 29, 2021, in Jos.

He commended the Plateau state governor, Barrister Simon Lalong, for his effort in “expanding the Kingdom of God, particularly Christians in the North and Plateau state.”

“No governor in Nigeria has beaten the record of Plateau state in Pilgrimage,” he said..

Earlier, the executive secretary of the Plateau state Christian Pilgrim Welfare Board, Rev. Fr. George Gorap, commended the NCPC boss for “changing the face of Christian Pilgrimage in Nigeria,” describing him as “a worthy ambassador of Plateau state.”

According to him, “I believe your presence will boost Christian pilgrimage in plateau state.”

Meanwhile, the NCPC boss urged the youth to be agents of peace.

He gave the advice in Jos recently at a two-day Leadership and Peace Summit organised by the Plateau state wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

He said what the youth needed to become agents of peace were “wisdom, integrity, courage, commitment, forgiven spirit and tolerance,” noting that the trials of life were meant to equip “man and not to discourage or bring him down.”
