She performed recently at the National Christian Centre, Abuja.

Mrs. Kwaghe commended the Israel embassy for sustaining the competition, adding that NCPC would continue to give support working with the Israel embassy to ensure the success of the contest.

Earlier, the Ambassador Israel to Nigeria, Shimon Ben-Shosan, speaking at the occasion, said “this year’s theme has been chosen to mark 60 years of good diplomatic relation and friendship between Israel and Nigeria.”

He said further that the theme of this year’s contest “is aimed at bringing people together and further uniting the good relationship between Nigeria and Israel, by affecting people’s daily lives.”

Ben-Shosan also disclosed that the competition had started in Israel years ago and had been sustained with pride by the Israelis expressing joy that “Nigerians have accepted it and are sustaining it considering its educational benefits.”

In his remarks, the general secretary of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Barrister Joseph Daramola, expressed delight that the contest had come to stay. He promised that CAN would continue to support this noble programme, saying,  “Before the week runs out, I will personally ensure the advert has been sent out to all CAN offices in state to be broadcasted in churches all run Nigeria so that the registration will be en masse.”

According to a statement issued from Commission’s media unit, “The competition as usual would be held in three stages at the state, zonal and national levels with two finalists from each stage proceeding to the next level in order to compete against others.

“The first two stages will be internet based and the final stage will be handwritten. The final will be held in Abuja in November.”

Blueprint reports that the annual contest is organised in collaboration with the Israel Ministry of Education, Christians United for Israel, and CAN.
