NCWS seeks end to banditry, kidnapping in Kaduna

National Council of Women’s Societies (NCWS) Kaduna state chapter has expressed shock, dismay and deep sense of sorrow over the recent spate of banditry and kidnapping in parts of Kaduna state.
Chairperson of NCWS Kaduna state chapter, Barr. Zainab Hassan, stated this in a statement made available to the media in Kaduna on Sunday. She said as mothers and wives they are worried about the unabated activities of bandits and kidnappers despite the concerted efforts of the state government and security agencies.
Zainab described the recent invasions and kidnapping of students of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Bethel Baptist Model High School, Greenfield University and the kidnapping of eight members of same family by bandits as a sad narrative.

“We appeal to perpetrators of the heinous crime against humanity to please stop these senseless activities and embrace peace. As mothers, we are deeply saddened and call on government to intensify efforts at protecting the citizenry, particularly women and children in the state.
“We urge all well meaning Nigerians to intensify prayers to God Almighty to touch and change the hearts of the perpetrators of these inhuman acts. To all our brothers and sisters in the troubled areas, we urge them not to despair but to continue to seek the intervention of Allah through prayers and fasting for the return of peace and security and the spirit of brotherhood to the zone,” she said.

Barr. Zainab Hassan commended Governor Nasir el-Rufai for his unrelenting efforts in bringing end to the menace.
She also expressed gratitude to the state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, for his strides towards ensuring peaceful Kaduna state.
The NCWS Chairman also commended the state Police command for the rescue of two more kidnapped Bethel Baptist High School students and later release of 28 students on Sunday. She said the release of students is a welcome development, while appealing to the kidnappers to please release the remaining students in their den.

Barr. Zainab Hassan called on the Emir of Zazzau, Amb. Ahmed Nuhu Bamall, and other traditional rulers in the state to help in taming the monster, saying this is the time the state needs them most as royal fathers.
