NDDC: Group moves against appointment of Turner, Adoki

A group, under the aegis of Niger Delta Youth Patriots, has risen against the re-appointment of George Turner and Ayila Adoki as Special Assistant on Youth Affairs to the Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission, Mr. Bassey Dari Abia.
This disapproval was contained in a press release signed by the group’s president, Emmanuel Headmaster, and made available to journalists yesterday in Abuja.
The group said it is rejecting the appointment on grounds that Turner who had served the commission for two years was insensitive to the yearnings of the youth and also because Adoki is a known cultist in River state.
It said: “Mr. Gorge Turner has served this great commission as special assistant on youth affairs to the immediate past managing director Mr. Chris Obuah for the last two years. Rather than been creative and enhance the developmental strides of youths, he was concerned with enriching himself with the feelings that he is anointed candidate of Mr. President and also his kinsman.
“He has failed the entire youth of the Niger Delta because of the kangaroo and mirage projects on capacity building that were only on the social media but did not get to the door steps of the youths.
“In the same vein, we also do not want any renowned cultist as Mr. Ayila Adoki, who is the head of a notorious cult group in River state known as Iceland Confraternity, to be appointed as the Special Assistant on Youth Affairs to Mr. Bassey Dan-Abia.”
The group warned that doing contrary to this “will not only affect the future of the commission’s prospective and objectives, but will also be detrimental to the development of youth in the Niger Delta region”.
