NDDC moves to complete Oro monarch’s palace

Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has promised to complete the abandoned palace project of the Ahta Oro, the supreme traditional ruler of Oron in Akwa Ibom State’s third largest ethnic group.
NDDC Managing Director of the commission, Mr. Nsima Ekere, announced this during a courtesy call by Oro Think Tank, a political arm of Oron Nation, which comprises five local government areas.
Ekere said NDDC will complete the project as requested by the body, as part of its corporate social responsibilities to the Oron nation being a major oil-producing area in the state.
He, however, suggested an upgrade of the design of the project which had been abandoned due to lack of funds.
The NDDC boss also announced the award of contract to check the encroachment on Oron Road leading to the beach in Oron Town, recalling that his first contract award on assumption of office in November 2016 was for the construction of road to Enwang, the headquarters of Mbo LGA and hometown of a prominent Oro leader and retired Inspector-General of Police, late Etim Inyang.
