NDDC pays compensation to Umudike property owners

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has embarked on payment of compensation to villagers who own buildings, economic trees and monuments destroyed by the Commission while constructing four access roads in Umudike community in Ohaji Egbema LGA of Imo state.
Paramount ruler of the community, Eze-Ali James Nwanro, and the youth president of the community, Ndubuisi Uche, who were supervising the exercise on behalf of NDDC at a bank in Owerri when our correspondent called, said destructions were recorded on four access roads of Major road, School road, Church road and Chidi Awa road in the community but that people who owned property on the Major road were being captured and paid compensation before that of other roads would commence.
The paramount ruler, who disclosed that certifi ed estate valuers valued the property destroyed before the NDDC payment, dismissed insinuations in some quarters that some people were skipped when recording the names of beneficiaries and that enough money was not given to those whose property were destroyed in the course of constructing the aforementioned roads.
