NDE resettles 22 graduates of SOW scheme in Enugu

The Vocational Skill Development department of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) Wednesday disbursed resettlement equipment and tools to 22 graduates of the School On Wheel (SOW), who successfully completed their training on different skills that include fashion designing, catering, make-up, hair dressing, electrical installation, barbing among others to youths in Enugu.

The essence of the training and resettlement with starter packs is to enable the beneficiaries to be self-reliant as well as be job providers instead of job seekers.

Speaking at the disbursement of empowerment starter packs to SOW beneficiaries at the Enugu NDE office, the Director General, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo said the directorate was out to fight mass unemployment to the barest minimum.

Fikpo, who was represented by Enugu state coordinator of NDE, Mrs. Ifeoma Ezepue, also said NDE was desirous to engage unemployed youth in skill acquisition training and still go further to ensure that they are empowered to set up their own businesses by giving them relevant tools/equipments.

“In line with NDE disbursement exercise is at least 22 graduated trainees in trades such as fashion designing, catering, Make-up, hair dressing Barbing and electrical installation.

“The beneficiaries will also enjoy the privilege of not only being their own tbosses but also become employers of labour. The multiplier effect of this modest effort in the next few years is best left to the imagination.

“Let me use this opportunity to advise the beneficiaries that to whom much is given, much is required. While the NDE continues to provide programmes/schemes for the unemployed youths, it is expected that you should put in your best to ensure that you succeed,” he admonished.
