NDE to empower 42 Yobe youths with N4.2m to start up

National Directorate of Employment (NDE) is set to disburse over N4.2million loans to 42 beneficiaries of agricultural empowerment schemes in Yobe state.

This was made known Tuesday by the Director General of NDE, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, during orientation of prospective beneficiaries in the state.

Represented by the acting coordinator NDE Yobe state, Hajiya Binta Aliyu, Fikpo said, the gesture was aimed at making the youths in the state to become self-reliance.

“The loan will also assists the beneficiaries in combating poverty among young in the state.

“The 42 youths ,11 of them were trained and graduated on Agricultural Empowerment Scheme,15 on Sustainable Agricultural Development Empowerment,9 on Agricultural Enhancement and 7 on Community Base Agricultural Empowerment Schemes respectively,” he said.

He charged the beneficiaries to desist from buying fancy phones, clothes and other luxury items, saying “the money was meant for business.”

In his remarks, the Head of Department (HOD), Rural Employment Promotion Department (RED), Mr Edom Dude, represented by Yusuf Abdullahi, congratulated the beneficiaries for being among the those that would benefit from the loan.

The RED HOD said each of the beneficiaries will be given 100,000 as loan to start up agricultural business and the repayment plan would span three years.
