NDE trains trainers in Plateau

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has urged vocational skills trainers to always make use of the NDE’s train the trainers programme for their ultimate advantage and those they train in their ventures.

The call was made by the Director General of the NDE, Malam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, Wednesday, at a 3-day workshop for Training of the Trainers (TOT), and life skills/behavoural changes training, under the Vocational Skills Development (VSD), holding at the Plateau state office of the NDE.

Represented by the state coordinator of NDE, Mrs. Asabe Lassa, Malam Fikpo, said the routine TOT’s essence is to continue to build the trainers, capacity with newer trending skills.

“Is also to inculcate in them some knowledge that will help them improve themselves as trainers of various vocational skills to be able to handle better, their trainees,” he said.

The NDE’s head of Vocational Skills Department, Isa Abdul, represented by the Principal Skills Vocational Officer, Musa Ibrahim, said the NDE is determined to continue to train, trainers for the good of all Nigerians.

Abdul said the management is also considering upward review of the trainer’s stipends.

“As part of efforts at ensuring that the welfare of our trainers is uplifted, the management is considering uplifting; increasing our trainers stipend or upward review,” he said.

The training has in attendance, experts in twenty different vocational skills, been trained on personal evaluation and capacity development, communication method and inter-personal skills, and time management amongst others.
