It is particularly exhilarating how the elections turned out. All predictions of doom that kept everybody squirming uneasily before and during the elections came in vain just because wise counsel prevailed. But the greatest triumph is that the new order will throw up new set of political leaders among Ndigbo.
When that happens, it is expected that most of what the people experienced previously must not recur. A situation where a few opportunistic politicians from the East, under the guise of working for their people, seized the President to selfish advantage, is unacceptable.
There must be an end to political merchandising and selfish impetuosity of those past pretenders to political leadership of Ndigbo. They need political leaders in the mould of Michael Iheonukara Okpara, Akanu Ibiam, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu among others. But more than that, the people should devise ways of chastising erring politicians from the zone.
