The Registrar of the National Examinations Council (NECO), Prof Charles Uwakwe, has commissioned an 89 units office complex as part of efforts to solve the problem of office accommodation at the council headquarters.
Commissioning the complex at the weekend, Prof Uwakwe said that NECO expended the sum of N120 million on the edifice.
He explained that the building was completed almost 10 years after its foundation was laid at the council headquarters in Minna, noting that the building will go a long way in solving the acute shortage of office accommodation at the headquarters.
He said that the offices will be occupied by three departments of the council, adding that it was aimed at providing conducive environment for staff.
He urged the staff to ensure proper maintenance of their offices, adding that lots of resources had gone into the construction and furnishing of the edifice.
He said that his management team was committed towards improving the welfare of staff and thanked them for the tremendous support to the management.
He appealed to other staff not yet accommodated to be patient with management adding that efforts were on to provide more office accommodation, adding that those who got offices now should accept the allocations as done by the committee set up for the purpose.
He thanked the federal government for the completion of the building adding that it was started about 10years ago but it was his pleasure that it was completed during his administration.
“Lots of resources were put into this building, it has therefore become imperative that staff pay deserved attention to its maintenance. We must take it as our personal property and use it as our own,” he said.
