NEDC constructs model mega school in Potiskum

As part of the post insurgency recovery development and resettlement efforts, the North East Development Commission (NEDC) Friday officially flagged off the construction of Mega School in Potiskum town of Yobe state.

The construction of the model Mega School in Potiskum is also part of NEDC’s development agenda; already spread across the three senatorial zones in the six states of the North-east.

The managing director/ CEO, North East Development Commission (NEDC), while delivering address, said after careful study and found congestion in some schools, the Board of the Commission made a decision to establish a mega school in each of the senatorial zones within the North-east states leading to the provision of 18 mega schools with Yobe having three.

Alkali said each of the schools after completion would comprise 12 classrooms each for primary and secondary sections making a total of 24 classrooms, laboratory, workshop, computer centre.

He disclosed further that the NEDC had so far provided 3 ICT centres across the three senatorial districts of the state in each of the centres they intended to create jobs for the teeming youth “in order to become employers of labour thereby enabling wealth creation among the people.”
