NEDC to establish more ICT training centres in North-east

The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has concluded plans to establish more ICT training centers across the Northeast states.

The commission has also trained graduates and distributed starter pack to 197 beneficiaries of its second batch ICT training programme in Adamawa state.

This brings the total number of the beneficiaries in the entire North east to 2,400 graduates since the commencement of the programme.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the second batch of the programme in Yola, the Managing Director/CEO of the NEDC, Mohammed Alkali, represented by the general manager, finance and account, Mahmud Adam kambari, said the decision to establish more training centers in Northeast states is to improve the successes recorded so far by the programme.

He said the Northeast states has the lowest literacy rate and highest poverty indices in the country even before Boko Haram insurgency which was further exacerbated by the effects of insurgency and destruction of human lives and public infrastructures, hence, the need to embark on ICT training of youth in the North ast to make them self reliant.

The MD further stated that it is in line with this vision that the commission established ICT training centers in all the North east states to provide comprehensive ICT training and skill acquisition services to the youth.
