Neighbours rescue suicide suspect in Gwazunu

A 28-year-old woman identified as Juliet Ibrahim allegedly attempted to take her live when she drank rat poison which she bought for N200 over her husband’s ‘neglect,’ was at the weekend rescued by residents in the community.
Juliet, who admitted to drinking the poison in her hospital bed where she is recuperating, said for a week her husband had abandoned her and five children.

“My husband has not returned home for four months now; there is no other option than to go and die.”
When asked why she used the money for the poison to get something to trade on a bag of sachet water, which is sold for N80, she said: “I have been buying food on credit, and I have not been able to pay back.”

When Blueprint contacted the husband, he said: “For the past four months, things have been very rough, but my wife seems not to believe me and she bluntly refused to give me a helping hand by engaging in petty trading. On several occasions, I had established businesses for her, but she would, after sometime, abandon them; it is now a Cross for me to bear.”
