Nekede poly debunks newspaper report on students’ killings

The management Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri in Imo state has debunked newspaper report (not Blueprint) that 10 students of the institution were killed in the last one week over cult activities which grounded academic activities.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the school Ever B. Nwosu who addressed newsmen on behalf of the Rector, Rev Engr. Dr. M.C. Arimanwa made it clear that no student of the school was killed as a result any cult war and that academic activity was not grounded for any reason.

“To the knowledge of the Polytechnic, none of its students had been killed, maimed nor harassed in the midst of any cult war now or before now,” he reiterated.

While challenging the newspaper which carried the story to furnish it with the dead students’ particulars and show how “it correlates to the Federal Polytechnic Nekede as an institution”, the Polytechnic management implored media houses “to always confirm their stories before going to press as it took years of hard work and sustained purposeful leadership for the polytechnic to attain its current enviable height and image.”
