An ND 2 student of the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, in the Department of Opticianry, reportedly drowned in Otamiri River in Nekede while on a swimming outing with his friends.
Our correspondent gathered that the incident took place Saturday morning while the victim, Emmanuel, attempted to challenge the swimming skills of his friends.
As at the time of filing this story, Emmanuel’s corpse had not been found, but a suggestion was made by the villagers that the chief priest of the river should be contacted to appease the gods to release the corpse for burial.
