NEMA provides support for 2018 Taraba flood disaster victims

 

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Sunday donated livelihood support to victims of 2018 flood disaster in Taraba state.

 The NEMA head of operation in charge of Adamawa and Taraba states, Alhaji Abbani Garki, while donating the livelihood support in Nmannai village in Gassol local government area of Taraba state said the livelihood support would be distributed to 370 victims of the 2018 flood disaster in the state.

 He stated that grading machines, water pumps  and  sewing machines were support items provided for the 2018 victims of flood disaster in the state.

 He stated that the 370 victims are Lau, Gassol and Donga LGA’s of the state respectively.

He said the livelihood support was donated to engage the flood victims in small scale business to restore means of livelihood for them. 

He stated that the support was initiated to empower and build food security in areas that were destroyed by flood in 2018. 

He warned those living around river banks and flood-prone areas to as a matter of urgency vacate to hinterlands, adding that they were predictions by Nimet that 30 states of the federation would be affected by flood this year.

He stressed that the agency had received the 2019 rainfall data from the Nigerian metrological agency (Nimet) warning those living around river banks to relocate.
