NEPZA partners UniAbuja to establish special economic zone

The Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority (NEPZA) is set to partner with the University of Abuja to establish a Special Economic Zone to fast track development.

The Managing Director of NEPZA, Prof Adesoji Adesugba during a courtesy visit by the Vice Chancellor Uniabuja, Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah Monday in Abuja said the university land should be unleashed and developed through a master plan but the private sectors should be involved.

He said the university would like to develop so it can be a flagship project for the federal government because the school has solid minerals and should be unleashed for the purpose of development.

He said a proper business plan and master plan is going to be drawn to ensure that they have the place as a free trade zone.

In his words “You can’t determine that value unless you unlock it. University of Abuja is one of the richest universities in the world, it is close to the Airport, close to down town, and it has the tourism sites, rivers, mountains and flowers.”

Also, the Vice Chancellor Uniabuja , Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah said the university is seeking support from the federal government because there are campus innovations everyday and they want to unleash these innovations by having this free trade zones and working with industries .

“We hope to have it as soon as possible. We hope to explore mining, tourism. We are on the best road network, we are close to the airport and it is accessible for everyone to come from anywhere in the world,” he said.
