Nestle leads losers table as equity market gains N4bn

Nestle Nigeria Plc yesterday recorded the highest loss at the Nigerian Stock Exchange, declining by N10.00 to close at N2370.00, Mobil Oil followed with a loss of N9.00 to close at N190.00, Nigerian Breweries depreciated by N3.50 kobo to close at N124.50 kobo, Conoil Plc depreciated by N3.40 kobo to close at N32.10 kobo and Julius Berger fell by N1.35 kobo
On the contrary, Guaranty Trust Bank led gainers table, improving by N0.75 kobo to close at N48.00, Nascon trailed with a gain of N0.55 kobo to close at N20.55 kobo, Flour Mills Nigeria Plc added N0.55 kobo to close at N32.55 kobo, Zenith International Bank gained N0.45 kobo to close at N31.50 kobo, United Bank for Africa appreciated by N0.40 kobo to close at N12.60 kobo.
Trading activities showed that market capitalisation of listed equities increased by N4 billion or 0.03 per cent to N15.129 trillion from N15.125 trillion traded the previous day. Also the NSE All Share Index grew by N9.92 basis points to 42158.32 points from 42148.40 recorded on Wednesday.
The transactions for the day revealed that investors traded 570.259 million shares worth N5.325 million shares in 5794 deals against 510.282 million shares valued at N4.631 billion exchanged hands the previous day in 5757 deals.
An analysis of the investment indicated that Custodian and Allied Insurance was the most active stock for the day trading 94.452 million shares worth N377.819 million, FBNHoldings followed with account of 61.640 million shares valued at N683.255 million, Fidelity traded 55.930 million shares cost N110.564 million, FCMB exchanged 48.252 million shares cost N110.564 million while Transnational Corporation of Nigeria (Transcorp) sold 31.505 million shares valued at N63.900 million
