New Yobe gov promises to construct hostel, classroom at orphanage centre

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has called on well-meaning individuals and groups to support the plight of orphans especially
those whose parents were killed as a result of the Boko Haram insurgency so as to reduce their succour.

Buni, made the call in Damaturu on ednesday while on a visit to Yetim Orphanage centre.

The Governor said, taking care of orphans was a collective responsibility which should not be shunned by individuals.

“Orphans are our children which we must give them sense of belonging by catering for their needs and that cannot be done by government
alone, it’s a collective responsibility,” he said.

Buni increased the monthly running cost of the orphanage home from N500,000 to N1,000,000 and pledged to construct a hostel and a classroom.

While thanking the founders of the Orphanage, the governor called on the Principal to always get in touch with the acting Secretary to the State Government for possible assistance.

Speaking earlier, the Coordinator of the Orphanage, Mal. Gambo Garba, commended the efforts of the Yobe state government.

The state government had renovated the entire orphanage and donated an 18-seater bus.
