NFF, Keshi sheathe swords

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has declared that it has no rift concerning any matter against Super Eagles’ handler Stephen Keshi, contrary to any information available to the public.
Speaking through its media and publicity Committee Chairman, Chief Emeka Inyama, said the NFF, however, admitted that though Keshi was recently given a query for failing to appear before its technical committee for a scheduled meeting and travelling before the approved date for his leave, the federation had subsequently received a reply from Eagles’ gaffer which finally calmed the storm.

Recently, the media were awash with several controversies engulfing the federation and Keshi, the most recent being that country’s football authorities’ resolve to relieve the former Mali and Togo coach of his job immediately after World Cup Tournament.
The federation’s mouthpiece then appealed to the press to join hands with the federation and avoid reporting issues that would not cause distraction in the football family.
He observed that the federation had a very cordial relationship with the Big Boss and “we are proud of him because he has done and still doing well. He remains the head coach of our team. Currently, he is one of the best coaches in the world.”

On whether the federation is interested in who the team’s handler invites for World Cup Finals, Inyama said: “I don’t decide who Keshi invites because it is his world to invite players for the World Cup according to his prerogative. However, it is within the purview of the technical committee of the federation to parley with about any player it thinks is important but not on his list.
“At the end of the day, it is still left for the coach to choose his final 23-man squad who will be at the World Cup Finals.”
