NFF shifts gaze to Brazil 2014

A day after the Super Eagles returned from African Nations Championship (CHAN), the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has declared its readiness to work towards 2014 World Cup Finals which kick off in June in Brazil.
Also, the country’s football authority has called on Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) to allow players who ply their trade abroad to be part of the CHAN tournament.
Speaking to Blueprint Sport in Abuja, NFF general secretary, Barr. Musa Amadu. who also expressed satisfaction with the performance of Super Eagles at the just concluded CHAN, said the federation expects Eagles technical crew led by Stephen Keshi to settle down and draw a comprehensive programme for the forthcoming soccer fiesta, adding that it would be left for Keshi to decide if he could invite old players to see what they can offer the team.
According to Amadu, “Our players played a very good game throughout the tournament especially against Morocco in the quarter-final. On the whole, we did very well at our first appearance in CHAN. I’m confident that these players can only improve in subsequent editions. The Bronze medal for Nigeria after the competition is commendable though we have the potential to win the tournament.
“All of them in the team did quite well and is left for Stephen Keshi to decide who to pick to join his World Cup squad. I’m impressed by the performance of all the players who featured in CHAN. I’m also impressed by the level of preparation by CAF which to successful outing in South Africa.  I’m sure that the coach will call up a good number of them when preparations start for World Cup.
“As soon as the World Cup is over, we will begin preparations for another CHAN which will be hosted in Rwanda come 2016. Before then, we will get to prepare for African Nations Cup.
