‘NFF still owe U-23 Eagles winning bonus against Libya’

Nigeria’s U-23 Eagles are yet to be paid their match bonus five weeks after they beat Libya to reach the final qualifying round for the 2019 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations to be staged in Egypt.

Victor Osimhen grabbed a hat-trick and Chidozie Okereke scored in stoppage time as Under-23 Eagles defeated their Libyan counterparts 4-0 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in the second leg in Asaba to advance 4-2 on aggregate.

“We are looking forward to the final U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan but I’m not sure if I will be available for the game, we will see,” one of the players said anonimously.

“They’ve not even paid us.”

Imama Amapakabo named had 11 overseas-based players in the matchday squad against Libya in Asaba, namely; Francis Uzoho, Osimhen, Okereke, Samuel Chukwueze, Taiwo Awoniyi, Dennie Bonaventure, Okonkwo Orji, Kingsley Michael, Azubuike Okechukwu, Kelechi Nwakali, and Chidozie Awaziem.

Nigeria will be away to Sudan on June 5 before hosting the final leg on June 9 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba(Completesports.com)
