NGO earmarks $14m to feed less privileged in Bauchi

A Canadian Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Oxfam, has said it had earmarked the sum of 14 million cads to feed 80, 000 people drawn from poorest households in various rural areas of Bauchi state. Bauchi state Project leader of the NGO, Dr. Francis Sa’ayinzat, who said this during a fi eld visit to 90 benefi ciaries in Kumbus, Jibam and Gaso communities of Dajin Ward in Tafawa Balewa local government of the state ecently, explained that the gesture was in line with their Livelihoods and Nutrition Empowerment (LINE) project aimed at improving the lives of less privileged members of the society. He added that the project which was being funded by the Canadian Government (CAG) was also meant to encourage rural farmers such that they could produce foods in commercial quantities. “Th e project is currently being implemented in six local government areas of Alkaleri, Darazo, Ningi, Gamawa, Tafawa Balewa and Shira. So far, we have identifi ed and registered 3,165 (over 65% women) in all the six local government areas targeted by the project, comprising 18 wards with 108 communities,” he said.
