NGO empowers 180 victims of insurgency in yobe

A Non-Governmental Organisation, Taimako Development Initiative (CDI) has empowered 180 vulnerable widows, orphans and other victims of Boko Haram insurgency in Yobe state.

At a presentation, the Programme Manager, CDI Haliru Abdullahi called on the beneficiaries to make good use of the starter-packs in order to regain their means of livelihood.

“I want to use this opportunity to call on you to make judicious useof the starter packs given to you to assist your families.  We want to inform you that, those who maintain them very well, reward will follow” he said.

Abdullahi further said, mechanisms have been put in place to monitor all the starter packs given out and anyone found selling them will be arrested by the security agents.

Some beneficiaries, Yamallam Bulama and Hauwa Ibrahim who are both widows thanked the NGO for coming to their aid, saying the gesture will help in putting food on their table and also pay their school fees.

Starter packs distributed to families in Damaturu and Gujba local government councils include grinding and sewing machines, livestock, fortified seeds, water truck among others.
