NGO empowers over 1,300 women in Gombe

A Non-Governmental Organisation in Gombe state, Tozali Women and Girl-Child Education Foundation has empowered over 1,300 women with economic tools and food Items in the state.

The National Coordinator of the foundation, Hajiya Maimuna Abubakar, who stated this during the empowerment programme in Gombe, said the aim of the programme is to empower women and to promote Girl-Child education.

 She said women need empowerment for them to be self-reliant and able to assist their children and husbands in one way or the other, adding that about 1,200 women has also benefited from the gesture.

Hajiya said some of the women are trained tailors but they don’t have the sewing machine and some of them can operate in home by using  grinding machine to make money, because of lack of assistance they were not been able to do so.

“the foundation has supplied one truck of maize floor fortify with vitamin A and some have  distributed to  Internally Displace Persons (IDPs), Orphanage homes and Person with Disabilities (PWD), women in prison and girls schools across the state,” she added.

 Mrs Lamis Benjamen, Deputy Director State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), commended the foundation for humanitarian services that touches the life of the less privilege women.

 She said that the gesture would impact positively on the life of the beneficiaries including their children and husbands.

 She advised the beneficiaries to make judicious used of the items and not to sell them out for any reason.

Hajiya Ramatu Musa who spook on behalf of the beneficiaries thanked the foundation for the gesture and assured judicious use of the items’.

 The items distributed  include 35 sewing machines, 35 Grinding machine, 35 pumping machine for women farmers, tillers machines, tricycle and three motorcycle for the teachers of girls schools who are about to retire from the service.
