NGO hands over 4 solar powered viewing centres to communities in Yobe

Yunusari local government in Yobe state in partnership with North-east Regional Initiative (NERI) have constructed of viewing centres across the local government in order to keep the people abreast with information within and outside their communities.

Handing over keys to the centre constructed in Gamma, the Programme Officer of the NERI in Yobe state, Bukar Kurama, said information is very critical in this contemporary dispensation especially in terms of security.

“Information is very vital especially in these communities that have challenges of insecurity, they need to have information and know the happenings around them.  Most of the youths engage themselves in crimes because they do not have things that will keep them busy.

“I call on the communities to set up a committee that would be saddled with the responsibility of managing this centres, by making sure it enlightens the community and have a positive impact” he said.

Tijjani Shettima and Abba Musa who spoke on behalf of the communities thanked NERI for the gesture.  According to them, the organization has done much in construction not only view centres but blocks of classrooms which helped in school enrolment.

“With the infrastructures provided, many parents are now willing to enroll their children into western education, because we have seen the disadvantage of becoming illiterates, our children will not be victims as we are”.

Blueprint gathered that 3 other centres were constructed in Kanamma, Toshia and Ladu. All powered by solar system.
