NGO harps on enhancing women capacity, seeks Blueprint collaboration

A Non-Governmental Organization, UKaid support initiative, New Faces, New Voices (NFNV), Nigeria chapter is to partner with Blueprint Newspapers and other relevant stakeholders’ in order to continue to build the capacity of African women.
The NGO also intend to raise voices across borders with the aim of enhancing the financial status of women in the society.
Other areas of focus by the Nigerian chapter according to the team, include, expanding the role and finance of women in business and finance sector, advocacy, financial support for women, training and capacity building for the vulnerable.
The Zonal Co-ordinator, NFNV Nigeria North-Central, Hajia Binta Fatima Ibrahim who led the team gave the assurance yesterday when she led a team of the NGO officials on a courtesy visit to Blueprint Corporate Headquarters.
According to Ibrahim, the partnerships seek to advocate and equally request for collaboration ahead of its proposed 1st Pan African Women Expo coverage slated for Abuja later in the year.
The zonal co-ordinator said: “We are planning an Africa Expo in Abuja coupled with the second phase, a roundtable meeting which is coming up in Senegal with the aim of formalizing our formation.
We have also collaborated closely with relevant stakeholders’, and especially the gender desk of ECOWAS in realizing our objectives.
“Also, we have considered the media as being very important in our pre and post event activities, for this reasons; we are here to solicit for your support in the area of coverage and any other media aspect in the coming Expo in Nigeria”, she said.
Responding, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the medium, Salisu Umar, said that considering the laudable initiatives of the organization, the partnership becomeS imperative.
“I am delighted that such partnership request is coming from a reputable organization like NFNV.
For us, it must be that our media entity must have done something right in the past to warrant such request,” he noted.
Umar told the visitor that the entity would continue its unbiased reportage, assuring the group of its support in subsequent programmes as requested.
Speaking in the same vein, the Editor, Daily, Blueprint Newspapers, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrauf thanked the visitors for the encomium poured on the Medium.
He assured the organization of its readiness at all times as partners in progress.
