NGO sensitises women on political roles through drama

The Executive Director, Disputes Resolutions and Development Initiative (DRADI), a Non-governmental Organization, Dr Mustapha Muhammad Yahaya, has commended Hausa drama organised to sensitize women on the need to actively participate in politics affairs in the present democratic dispensation.

Speaking at the presentation of the drama, Friday in Kano, Yahaya said it was a misnomer for the political elites to consider women as being destined to play second fiddle in the nation’s politics.

According to him, no political dispensation could ever be realistic with the women folk pushed to the lower rung of the ladder politically.

He argued that with the numerical strength of the women in the country, they were poised to pull a surprise, noting, however, that the drama had been staged to prove to everyone that using money to buy peoples’ conscience in the name of surrendering their votes was anachronism in a democratic setting.
